This path winds along the Trondheim fjord, with small hills, turns and fields. A lovely walk for the entire family.
Ladestien is a unique path along the Trondheim fjord, and stretches from Ladehammeren to Rotvoll, a distance of 8 kilometres. The terrain is varied, with small hills and long, open flats past the city’s beaches. This is also a historical path, with evidence from the Ice Age, underground caves and war memorials. Near Østmarkbukta there is an underground cave going 100 metres into the rock. The highlight of any walk along Ladestien is arriving at Sponhuset, an old Swiss chalet that has been converted into a café. It is famous for having the best waffles in town, so be sure to schedule a stop here before you walk on.
You can walk here from the city centre, via Solsiden towards Lade. Follow the road along the fjord, and you can’t miss Ladestien. When you arrive at Rotvoll, you can take the bus back into the city. Alternatively, you can take the bus to Rotvoll and walk back into town. Check the buses here.
