This is a one-of-a-kind supermarket that only sells organic products, and is based on volunteering. The Samvirkelag, or co-op, is located only a five-minute walk from Nedre Elvehavn, near Buran/Østbyen.

Svartlamon Samvirkelag wants to offer the local community the chance to buy local, organic, environmentally-friendly and ethical groceries. The Samvirkelag is a co-op, and membership is contingent on participation in the operations. In other words, membership will cost you a commitment to participate. All the members work for free on a volunteer basis, which means they can offer organic groceries at competitive prices, compared to the large supermarket chains.
